I posted this response to Unit 1.15: What is Twitter? on FutureLearn’s Why We Post: the Anthropology of Social Media course:-
“You can find me on Twitter @ https://twitter.com/srjf
I was an early adopter of Twitter back in December 2006. My Twitter id is 61,323 (get yours @ http://mytwitterid.com/).
I have become a self-confessed Twitter junkie using it many times per day to post and read tweets.
Some examples of what I use it for:-
1. info about events that I am attending
2. TV/films etc that I am watching: see https://goo.gl/c6zbMx
3. chats with people with share interests who I know or do not know in real life including members of the book club I am a member of
4. music/podcasts/radio programmes i am listening to, posting play/review links, seehttps://goo.gl/2Omz9B
5. posting links to web pages I have found interesting/useful
6. posting #ff (follow Friday) links to people who I think are worth following
etc etc
A good background to Twitter is this CBS 60 Minutes episode:https://youtu.be/eKHoTOYTFH8
My views of posting on social media are best summed up in this Euan Semple TED talk Changing the World One Conversation at a Time: https://youtu.be/B_Fw5h7bvNc
I use Hootsuite to post to Twitter and Facebook and use Tweetdeck to monitor multiple Twitter streams.”
