I loved being able to participate as an external guest at this event in Halifax.
This was my first “in real life” WOL event. I have facilitated and been part of 3 global/virtual WOL Circles and am currently running my 4th and also one of John's WOL Self-Care pilot circles.
This event was another of my ever-increasing number of WOL adventures since starting circles last year.
Find following the story of how I became involved in the Halifax event. I am a serendipity junkie ...
- June: saw a #WOL tweet from Tina Kinnar and discovered she was in Leeds, I am in Bradford, I knew nothing about who she worked for.
- i DM-ed her asking if she was in a circle and encouraging her to do so saying she was the closest WOL person I knew.
- Got a reply saying she was starting a pilot circle in LBG soon.
- Fortnight later Tina DM-ed me asking if I would join one of her circle calls to give an external perspective on circles. I love talking about circles!
- End of June, I joined Tina, Natalie Thompson & Ursula Waple on their circle call to talk about my experience of circles and we chatted about their individual circle goals (understanding agile working, widen knowledge of the business & virtual networking).
- October 5: Moyra Mackie (who I know online) posted in the WOL Facebook group about the LBG WOL events in London, Edinburgh and Halifax and asking for volunteers to give an external view of circles.
- I replied to Moyra: "Halifax is less than 10 miles away. I took part as a "guest" in one of their pilot circle calls back in June. I see that the two companies mentioned are part of Lloyds Banking Group." .. and Moyra replied "Yes they are LBG. Once again, I'm blown away by how WOL makes a big world appear smaller and more connected!" and gave me Dom's contact details.
- October 9: I contacted Dom and we arranged a call.
- October 12: Dom and I had a call about what he needed.
- I prep-ed for the session resulting in this deck of 10 slides telling my WOL circles story.
- We did the session in Halifax with Q&A and doing mini-versions of the circle exercises - 50 Facts About You and Personal Goal identification. It was great to meet and chat with Natalie in person. I also had detailed conversations with Rachel Toddington and Sabitha Chandran plus lots of other conversations.
This was a great experience to be a part of. Grateful for the opportunity.
